French-Made Bucket Bag
The Shape Vogue Heralded in 1939
FRENCH-MADE BUCKET BAG
In 1932, Gaston-Louis Vuitton created what was arguably the first bucket bag, purpose-built, beautifully crafted, a stylish means for carrying up to 5 bottles of champagne. Vogue celebrated a velvet version in 1939 and every decade since has witnessed new iterations, all effortlessly chic and eminently usable. Like Vuitton’s original, ours is handcrafted in France of vegetable-tanned leathers, dreamy in hand and sublime in hue (the results of the craftsman’s skill and obsession)— every detail added in order to ensure one feels quite special in the carrying. It features the classic toggled drawcord, brass-buckled shoulder strap and spacious interior. Ours also includes a felted wool zip pouch, tethered to keep keys, cards and small essentials at hand. Handmade in France exclusively for Guideboat; signed and dated by the artisan.
