The predecessor to the modern suit jacket, the 18th-century hacking jacket was designed for gentlemen to wear while inspecting their lands astride a saddled horse (or hack). Tailored for comfort and some protection against the inclement, it was paramount that the coat look smashingly good post-ride. Our fully lined Rook & Raven meets these criteria handsomely in Abraham Moon's classic British Shetland wool. Unstinting quality with a double vent, six pockets (two inside), waxed-cotton elbow patches and natural-horn buttons. Wear with confidence bramble beating or at highfalutin gatherings. Cut & sewn in New York City. Even sizes 38-46. Navy.
